What to Wear, Shade Tips
The beach is a great place to relax and catch some sun, but when the sand is too hot to walk on, it can be difficult to enjoy yourself. The Aussie Soles experts will give you some tips on what to wear and how to find shade when you’re at the beach. We’ll also tell you why it’s important to stay in the shade even when trying to get a tan!
The first thing to consider is what you’re wearing. If the sand is too hot for bare feet, then it’s probably not a good idea to wear flip flops either! You might want try some sneakers instead or even just walk around with socks on your feet if that’s all that’ll fit in them comfortably enough.
The next thing we need to think about when trying out how much shade there will be at a particular beach spot is where exactly our body parts are located relative one another and which ones might get burned more easily than others (e.g., knees vs shoulders). For example, if your knees are exposed while sitting down at an open picnic table under direct sunlight without any protection from UV rays but they wouldn’t normally so quickly because they are covered while you’re standing up, then this method isn’t the best for you.
Another thing to think about is clothing that can also double as sun protection by wearing a light-colored long sleeve shirt and pants. This way if it gets too hot or we want to cool off in the water, we can just take them off and not have to worry about sunscreen reapplication! Wearing a wide brimmed hat will also help protect our head, neck and face from the sun’s rays.
Now that we know what to wear, let’s find some shade! The easiest way to do this is by using an app like Sunscreen (download for free on iPhone or Android). It’ll show you how strong the sunlight is at your current location and what kind of shade is available, like trees or an umbrella. You can also use it to find out when the sun will be in the best spot for tanning.
Even if we’re wearing appropriate clothing and sunscreen, staying out in direct sunlight for too long can still cause a sunburn. It’s important to listen to our body and take breaks from the sun, especially during peak hours (11am-pm). Drink plenty of fluids and eat foods with antioxidants to help protect our skin against UV Rays.
We hope these tips will help you enjoy your next beach day even when the sand is too hot! Stay safe and have fun!
